Kashmir is one of the most extraordinary mountain destinations in India, a landscape of snow-covered peaks, alpine meadows, Mughal gardens, wooden houseboats, and glacial rivers that changes dramatically with every season. Kashmir tour packages allow travellers to experience everything from the iconic Dal Lake in Srinagar and the gondola rides of Gulmarg to the pine forests of Pahalgam and the glaciers of Sonamarg, combining natural beauty, culture, adventure, and heritage in a way few destinations can match. Whether you are planning a honeymoon, family holiday, trekking expedition, or winter snow vacation, Kashmir delivers experiences that feel both grand and deeply personal.
Often called “Paradise on Earth,” Kashmir is far more than a single destination, it is an entire Himalayan region shaped by centuries of history, pilgrimage, trade routes, and mountain culture. Mughal emperors once escaped the heat of the plains to spend summers beside Srinagar’s lakes and gardens, while ancient routes connected the valleys to Ladakh and Central Asia. Today, travellers can experience everything from traditional Kashmiri cuisine and heritage houseboats to skiing in Gulmarg, alpine trekking near Tarsar Marsar, and offbeat valleys such as Gurez, Yusmarg, and Doodhpathri that remain untouched by mass tourism.
At Vayable Trip, we design Kashmir holidays around the kind of journey travellers actually want not rushed sightseeing schedules. Our itineraries combine carefully selected hotels, scenic road journeys, local experiences, and flexible planning to help you experience Kashmir at the right pace. Whether you want a short Srinagar–Gulmarg getaway, a luxury houseboat stay, a snowfall trip, or a complete Kashmir circuit including remote valleys and trekking routes, our customised Kashmir tour packages are designed to show the region beyond the ordinary.
Top Tourist Attractions to Explore in Kashmir Tour Packages
1. Srinagar- City of Lakes and Chinar Gardens
Srinagar is the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir and the undisputed heart of Kashmir tourism, a city of Mughal gardens, ancient mosques, hand-crafted houseboats, and the extraordinary Dal Lake that covers 18 square kilometres at the centre of the Kashmir Valley. The city's history reads like a who's who of the Mughal Empire: Akbar, Jahangir, Shah Jahan, and Nur Jahan all spent summers here, leaving behind the Shalimar Bagh, Nishat Bagh, and Chashme Shahi gardens whose terraced lawns and fountains descend to the lake edge in perfectly composed layers. The Jhelum River runs through the old city past ancient mosques and wooden bridges, and the floating vegetable markets on Dal Lake, where farmers have grown vegetables on artificially constructed floating gardens for centuries, are one of the most extraordinary agricultural systems on earth.
Srinagar is the base for every Kashmir tour, but how you experience the city makes an enormous difference. Our customised Srinagar itineraries begin with a sunrise shikara (wooden boat) ride on Dal Lake before 6 AM, when the floating market is active, the light is flat and golden, and the Himalayas are reflected in the still water. We include the Mughal gardens in the right sequence (Chashme Shahi for the morning light, Nishat Bagh mid-morning, Shalimar for the late afternoon) and the old city's Jamia Masjid and Shah Hamdan shrine, which most package tours skip. Our houseboat selection is curated, Heritage Category A houseboats with original hand-carved walnut interiors, not the mass-market boats that dominate the lake.

2. Gulmarg- Asia's Premier Ski Resort
Gulmarg sits at 2,650 metres on the slopes of the Pir Panjal Range, 56 kilometres from Srinagar, and holds a distinction unique in India: it is Asia's highest and most extensive ski resort, with the Gulmarg Gondola, a two-stage cable car that rises to 3,980 metres at Apharwat Peak giving skiers access to slopes that rival European resorts in vertical drop and snow quality. In winter (December to March), Gulmarg receives 4–6 metres of snowfall that produces the kind of deep powder that skiers travel from Europe and America to experience. In summer (April to September), the skiing transforms into a meadow of wildflowers, the name Gulmarg literally means "meadow of flowers", surrounded by views of Nanga Parbat (8,126 m) and the western Himalayan skyline.
Gulmarg is one destination where the experience changes completely by season, and we match each itinerary to what you actually want. In winter: ski hire, gondola passes, and accommodation in the Khyber Himalayan Resort or Heritage properties at the meadow edge for the earliest possible slope access. In summer: the gondola ride to Apharwat for the high-altitude views, a horse ride across the wildflower meadow to the Alpather Lake (still frozen until June), and golf on the world's highest green golf course. For first-time skiers, we arrange certified instructors. For experienced skiers, we build in heli-skiing permits from the top bowl. Gulmarg pairs naturally with Srinagar (1 hour) and Pahalgam (3 hours) for a complete Kashmir circuit.

3. Pahalgam- Valley of Shepherds
Pahalgam sits at 2,130 metres in the Lidder Valley, 96 kilometres from Srinagar, where the Lidder River rushes through pine and fir forests before reaching the meadows that make this valley one of the most beautiful in Kashmir. It is the base camp for the Amarnath Yatra, the annual pilgrimage to the Amarnath Cave shrine at 3,888 metres, one of Hinduism's most sacred sites, which draws 500,000 pilgrims in July and August. Outside pilgrimage season, Pahalgam is a trekker's and photographer's destination of rare beauty: the Baisaran meadow (Mini Switzerland of Kashmir), the Aru Valley, the Betaab Valley (filmed in dozens of Bollywood movies), and the Kolahoi Glacier provide four completely different landscapes within 30 kilometres of the town.
Pahalgam is where Kashmir's landscape reveals its full range from the narrow river gorge below the town to the open alpine meadows of Baisaran to the glacial terrain above Aru. Our Pahalgam itineraries are built around walking: a morning in Aru Valley before the day-trippers arrive from Srinagar, an afternoon at Betaab Valley's river bend, and a sunset from Baisaran meadow above the treeline. For trekkers, we design the Kolahoi Glacier trek (4–5 days from Pahalgam) and the Tarsar Marsar Lake trek (5–6 days), both Grade moderate and accessible to fit non-technical trekkers. Pahalgam also serves as the departure point for our Amarnath Yatra packages during the July–August pilgrimage window.
Best Time to Visit- April to June (meadows green, Lidder River full) • September to November (autumn colour, clearest skies, best trekking) • July to August (Amarnath Yatra season pilgrimage crowds, book months ahead) • December to February (snow, few tourists, peaceful)

4. Sonamarg- Meadow of Gold
Sonamarg "meadow of gold," named for the golden wildflowers that cover its high alpine meadows in summer sits at 2,800 metres, 87 kilometres northeast of Srinagar on the road to Leh. It is the last major town in Kashmir before the Zoji La pass (3,528 metres) that marks the boundary between the Vale of Kashmir and Ladakh, and the landscape change on either side of this pass is one of the most dramatic in India. On the Kashmir side: pine and birch forests, glacial streams, and meadows ringed by peaks above 5,000 metres. The Thajiwas Glacier, a 20-minute walk or horse ride from the main meadow is accessible from June to November and brings glacial terrain within reach of travellers who would never attempt a technical climb.
Sonamarg is the Kashmir destination most often reduced to a single day trip from Srinagar which dramatically undersells what the valley offers. Our Sonamarg itineraries build in an overnight stay at the meadow, giving you the landscape at dawn and dusk when it is empty and at its most extraordinary. The Vishansar and Krishnasar lakes trek (2 days from Sonamarg) is one of the finest short treks in the western Himalayas two emerald-blue alpine lakes at 3,800 metres, surrounded by snow peaks and wildflower meadows. Sonamarg also serves as the starting point for the Amarnath Yatra via the Baltal route, and as a transit stop for road trips to Ladakh via the Srinagar-Leh Highway.

• Vishansar and Krishnasar Lakes trek (2 days)- two alpine lakes at 3,800 m through meadows above the treeline; one of Kashmir's finest short treks.
• Meadow walk at dawn- the Sonamarg meadow at 6 AM with the peaks catching first light and no vehicles yet is extraordinary.
• Zoji La Pass drive (if road tripping to Ladakh)- the 3,528 m pass with sheer drops on both sides; drive only in good weather with an experienced driver.
• River fishing on the Sindh River- excellent brown trout fishing in the Sindh River that runs through the Sonamarg valley.
• Photography at the pine forest stream- the streams that drain off the glacier through birch and pine forest produce extraordinary light in the late afternoon.
5. Gurez Valley- Kashmir's Last Frontier
Gurez Valley sits in the Dawar tehsil of Bandipora district, 123 kilometres north of Srinagar near the Line of Control with Pakistan, a location that kept it closed to civilian visitors until 2007 and has preserved it in a state of near-pristine isolation ever since. The Kishanganga River runs through the valley floor past villages of traditional Dard architecture, wooden houses with steeply pitched roofs, carved verandas, and living spaces designed to retain warmth through winters that can reach -30°C. The valley's resident community are the Dards, an ancient Indo-Aryan people with a distinct culture, language, and oral poetry tradition. Habba Khatoon Peak (4,742 m), named for Kashmir's most celebrated medieval poet, rises above the valley in a shape so perfect it appears painted.
Gurez is for the Kashmir traveller who wants to go beyond the standard circuit. It requires an Inner Line Permit (which we arrange), a full day's drive from Srinagar on a mountain road, and a tolerance for basic accommodation but what it delivers in return is the Kashmir that existed before mass tourism: genuine villages, unpolluted rivers, extraordinary mountain scenery, and a cultural encounter with the Dard community that is unlike anything available elsewhere in the region. Our Gurez packages are typically 3-night add-ons to a Kashmir circuit for travellers who have done Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam and want something that most travel companies cannot offer.
Best Time to Visit- June to September (road open, weather stable) • Valley closes November to May due to heavy snowfall • July to August is the best window for wildflowers and river levels
Places to Visit- Dawar • Habba Khatoon Peak • Kishanganga River • Tulail Valley • Badwan • Chakwali
What to Eat- Dard-style Bread (baked in wood-fired clay ovens) • Kashmiri Kehwa • Freshwater Trout • Local Rajma (kidney beans grown at altitude) • Mutton Shorba • Wild herb and walnut preparations
Top Things to Do
• Habba Khatoon Peak viewpoint- the most photographed landscape in Gurez, best at dawn when the peak catches the first light.
• Dawar village walk- the valley's main settlement, traditional Dard architecture and a small museum on Dard culture and history.
• Kishanganga River trek- half-day walks along the river through fir forest and alpine meadow.
• Tulail Valley excursion- 20 km north of Dawar, even more remote and less visited, traditional Dard villages in a side valley.
• Dard cultural evening- traditional music and folk dance arranged with local families (advance notice required).
• Trout fishing on the Kishanganga- one of Kashmir's finest trout rivers, almost unfished compared to the Lidder.
6. Yusmarg- Kashmir's Quiet Meadow
Yusmarg is the least-visited of Kashmir's four main meadows sitting at 2,400 metres in the Pir Panjal foothills, 47 kilometres southwest of Srinagar, it receives a fraction of the visitors that Gulmarg and Pahalgam attract despite offering an equally beautiful combination of alpine meadow, fir forest, and snow peak backdrop. The Doodh Ganga River the "milk river," named for its white glacial water runs through the meadow before descending into the Jhelum basin below. Yusmarg is the starting point for several moderate treks including the Sang-e-Safed trek to a permanent snowfield, and the Nilnag Lake trail through dense forest to a pristine high-altitude lake. It is also the most accessible meadow from Srinagar for families who want mountain scenery without the altitude effects of Sonamarg or the crowds of Gulmarg.
We include Yusmarg in our Kashmir itineraries as a half-day or full-day addition from Srinagar for travellers who want a meadow experience without the commercialisation of Gulmarg. The road to Yusmarg passes through Charar-e-Sharief a village famous for its dargah of Sheikh Noor-ud-Din, one of Kashmir's most revered Sufi saints. The meadow itself has none of the gondolas, ski-hire shops, and horse-ride vendors of Gulmarg; it is simply a meadow, a river, a forest, and the mountains. For guests on longer Kashmir circuits, we pair Yusmarg with Doodh Pathri (another quiet meadow, 42 km from Srinagar in the opposite direction) for a day that shows Kashmir's landscape at its most peaceful.
Best Time to Visit- April to October (meadow accessible, Doodh Ganga flowing) • May to June (wildflower peak) • Road may be affected by snow October to April
Places to Visit- Yusmarg Meadow • Doodh Ganga River • Nilnag Lake • Sang-e-Safed Glacier • Charar-e-Sharief • Tosa Maidan (day trip)
What to Eat- Kashmiri Kehwa • Haak Saag with rice (meadow dhabas serve simple but authentic Kashmiri food) • Rogan Josh • Nun Chai • Dum Aloo (Kashmiri-style potato) • Fresh local bread
Top Things to Do
• Doodh Ganga River walk- walk alongside the white glacial river through the meadow at dawn, before horse-riders start the day.
• Nilnag Lake trek (6 km, 3 hours)- through dense fir forest to a hidden alpine lake above the meadow.
• Charar-e-Sharief visit (en route)- dargah of Sheikh Noor-ud-Din, an important Sufi shrine with beautiful carved woodwork.
• Sang-e-Safed snowfield walk (8 km)- trek to a permanent snowfield above the meadow, moderate difficulty.
• Forest walk in the Yusmarg fir forest- the forest on the meadow's edge has excellent birdwatching including Kashmir Flycatcher and Himalayan Monal.
• Picnic at the river bend- the most used and most rewarding activity; the meadow is made for a slow morning.
7. Doodhpathri- Valley of Milk
Doodhpathri "valley of milk" is Kashmir's most undiscovered meadow destination, located 42 kilometres west of Srinagar in the Budgam district at 2,730 metres. The name comes from the white glacial streams that run off the surrounding peaks and converge in the valley floor, giving the water a milky opacity. Until a decade ago it was accessible only on horseback or foot; improved road access has made it reachable by vehicle, but it remains almost completely unknown outside Kashmir, and the meadow sees fewer visitors in a month than Gulmarg sees in a busy morning. The combination of river, forest, wildflower meadow, and mountain backdrop at Doodhpathri is exceptional and the absence of commercial development means the landscape is experienced as it actually is.
Doodhpathri is the destination we recommend to travellers who ask for "the real Kashmir without crowds." It is an easy day trip from Srinagar (1.5 hours), requires no permit, and delivers everything that Sonamarg and Gulmarg offer visually the meadow, the snow peaks, the glacial river without any of the commercial noise. We build it into Kashmir itineraries as a half-day from Srinagar, often combined with the Charar-e-Sharief dargah en route and a return via the village of Aripal, known for its traditional Kashmiri cricket bat willow cultivation Kashmir supplies willow to cricket bat makers worldwide.
Best Time to Visit- April to October (meadow open, streams flowing) • May to July (wildflower peak) • Roads may close after heavy snowfall in October–November
Places to Visit- Doodhpathri Meadow • Shaliganga River • Tatakuti • Charar-e-Sharief (en route) • Aripal village
What to Eat- Simple Kashmiri food at the meadow dhaba- Kehwa, Haak, local bread • Pack a picnic from Srinagar for the best meadow experience
Top Things to Do
• Meadow walk through the valley floor- follow the streams upward through wildflowers toward the snowline
• White river picnic- the streams that converge in the valley are the clearest water in Kashmir; the river banks are the best picnic spot in the region
• Sunset from the upper meadow- walk 2 km up the valley slope for a panoramic view of the meadow and the surrounding peaks
• Village walk to Aripal (en route)- Kashmir's cricket bat willow cultivation village, a genuinely unusual agricultural landscape
• Birdwatching in the forest fringe- Himalayan Monal pheasant, Black-throated Tit, and Streaked Laughingthrush regular in the forest edge
• Photography- Doodhpathri is the finest photography location in Kashmir for meadow and mountain composition
