Kerala's coastline gets far less attention than its hill stations and backwaters, but the Kochi and Kovalam beach tour package is proof that it deserves equal billing. This five-day itinerary pairs two very different coastal experiences the historic port city of Kochi in the north and the laid-back beach town of Kovalam near the southern tip of the state for travellers who want heritage sightseeing and genuine beach time in the same trip.

The journey opens in Fort Kochi, where centuries of Portuguese, Dutch, and British influence have left behind a compact, walkable old town full of spice warehouses, antique shops, colonial churches, and the famous cantilevered Chinese fishing nets along the waterfront. It's the kind of place that rewards slow wandering rather than a checklist approach, and two days here is enough to get a proper feel for the city without rushing.
From Kochi, the trip heads south to Kovalam, roughly at the opposite end of Kerala's coastline, known for its crescent-shaped beaches and the red-and-white striped Kovalam Lighthouse that has become something of a local landmark. Here, the pace shifts entirely mornings for beach walks, afternoons for Ayurvedic massages at one of the many wellness centres that line the shore, and evenings watching the sunset from a cliffside café. A short excursion to nearby Poovar, where the backwaters meet the Arabian Sea in a rare and photogenic confluence, adds a bit of variety to the beach days.

The Kochi and Kovalam beach tour package works well for couples looking for a relaxed getaway, families wanting a mix of culture and downtime, and anyone who assumes Kerala is only about hill stations and backwaters. Vayable Trip arranges the stays, private transfers, and Ayurveda bookings, so the trip runs smoothly from the moment you land in Kochi to the moment you fly home from Thiruvananthapuram.

Travel Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Kochi & Fort Kochi Sightseeing

Arrival Day
Arrive in Kochi and check into your hotel in the Fort Kochi area, close to the old town's main sights. Spend the afternoon walking through the neighbourhood the Chinese fishing nets, Jew Town's antique-filled lanes, the Dutch Palace, and St. Francis Church are all within easy reach of each other. In the evening, we usually recommend a Kathakali or Kalaripayattu performance, a good way to get a feel for Kerala's cultural traditions before heading south towards the beaches.

Day 2 - Kochi Local Exploration & Backwater Boat Ride

Spend the morning exploring parts of Kochi you might have missed on day one Mattancherry, the spice markets, and the Jewish Synagogue are all worth an unhurried visit. In the afternoon, take a short local backwater boat ride around Kochi's harbour and surrounding canals a gentler, shorter version of the full Alleppey experience, useful if your trip doesn't include a separate houseboat stay. Spend the evening at leisure or shopping for spices and handicrafts to take home.

Day 3 - Kochi to Kovalam

Check out after breakfast and begin the drive (or optional flight) south to Kovalam, near Thiruvananthapuram by road this takes around five to six hours, so an early start helps. Check into your beachside resort by evening, with just enough daylight left for a first walk along Kovalam's crescent-shaped Lighthouse Beach as the sun goes down over the Arabian Sea.

Day 4 - Kovalam Beach Day & Ayurveda

Today is kept intentionally unstructured spend the morning on the beach, swim if the waters are calm, or simply relax under an umbrella with a book. Kovalam's Lighthouse Beach and the quieter Hawah Beach next to it both make for pleasant walking. In the afternoon, book yourself in for an Ayurvedic massage at one of Kovalam's well-established wellness centres this stretch of coast has a long tradition of Ayurveda, and a session here is a good way to unwind before your trip ends. In the evening, climb the Kovalam Lighthouse for sweeping views over the coastline at sunset.

Day 5 - Poovar Excursion & Departure

If time allows before your flight, take a short morning excursion to Poovar, about 45 minutes away, where the backwaters meet the sea in a striking natural confluence. A boat ride here is a peaceful way to spend a final couple of hours in Kerala. Afterwards, transfer to Thiruvananthapuram airport for your onward journey, closing out a trip that covered both of Kerala's coastal personalities in one go.
