Bangalore's proximity to Kerala makes it one of the easiest gateway cities for a South Indian getaway, and our Kerala tour packages from Bangalore are built around that advantage. You have two ways in a quick flight to Kochi that gets you into holiday mode within the hour, or a scenic overnight road trip through Coorg and Wayanad-adjacent routes for travellers who see the drive itself as part of the adventure. Either way, this six-day package delivers Kerala's three signature experiences without feeling like a marathon.

The journey begins in Kochi, a city that wears its trading-port history openly Chinese fishing nets, Jewish synagogues, Portuguese churches, and Dutch-era mansions all sit within a few streets of each other in Fort Kochi. From there, the route climbs into the Western Ghats towards Munnar, arguably South India's most photogenic hill station, where tea estates blanket every visible slope and the air carries a permanent hint of eucalyptus and rain. Two days here are enough to properly explore the tea museum, drive out to viewpoints like Echo Point and Top Station, and simply sit somewhere quiet with a cup of tea grown a few hundred metres away.

The trip then descends to Alleppey for the part most travellers say they remember longest a night aboard a private houseboat, gliding through backwater canals lined with coconut palms and paddy fields, eating a freshly cooked Kerala meal on deck as the sun sets over the water.

For Bangalore travellers, the appeal of this route is how efficiently it uses the available time, short enough for a long weekend extension, complete enough to feel like a real holiday. Vayable Trip handles hotel bookings, private transfers, and the houseboat reservation, and can tailor the road-trip option or flight option depending on how you'd rather spend the extra travel hours.

Travel Itinerary

Day 1 - Bangalore to Kochi, Fort Kochi Exploration

Arrival Day
Fly out of Bangalore in the morning the flight to Kochi takes around an hour and a half. (If you'd rather drive, an overnight road journey via Coimbatore and Palakkad gets you into Kochi by early morning, and we can arrange this as an alternative start.) Once checked in, spend the afternoon walking through Fort Kochi's old quarter the Chinese fishing nets, Jew Town's antique lanes, and the Dutch Palace are all close together and easy to cover on foot. Round off the evening with a Kathakali performance, a good introduction to Kerala's performing arts.

Day 2 - Kochi to Munnar

After breakfast, head out towards Munnar. The drive takes four to five hours and climbs steadily through forested ghat roads, with waterfalls and spice gardens breaking up the journey along the way. Check into your hotel amid Munnar's tea estates by late afternoon and spend the evening acclimatising to the cooler hill-station air a short walk through the surrounding gardens is the best way to end the day.

Day 3 - Munnar Sightseeing

Today covers Munnar's main attractions at an easy pace: the Tata Tea Museum for some context on the region's tea history, a walk through an active tea plantation, Mattupetty Dam for a boat ride on the reservoir, Echo Point, and Kundala Lake. For those who want to go a little further, Top Station near the Tamil Nadu border offers some of the widest views in the region and can be added as an early-morning extension.

Day 4 - Munnar to Alleppey, Houseboat Check-in

Leave Munnar after breakfast for the roughly six-hour drive down to Alleppey, watching the scenery shift from hill-station greenery to coastal backwater country along the way. By evening, board your private houseboat and cruise out into the canals as the sky turns orange over the water. Dinner is a home-style Kerala spread prepared fresh by the onboard crew, served right there on deck.

Day 5 - Backwater Cruise & Transfer to Kochi

Spend the morning on the water, cruising past paddy fields, small temples, and village life along the canal banks before disembarking around late morning. Transfer back to Kochi, about two hours away, and use the free afternoon for last-minute shopping, an Ayurvedic massage, or simply relaxing before your journey back to Bangalore.

Day 6 - Kochi to Bangalore Departure

After breakfast, transfer to Kochi airport for your return flight to Bangalore (or begin the return road journey, if that's the option you chose), wrapping up a well-rounded introduction to Kerala.
