If you haven't heard of Kalpa, you're probably thinking of more famous places in Himachal, and that's completely understandable. But ask anyone who has visited, and they'll tell you the same thing: Kalpa is the one they didn't expect to fall this hard for.

The town sits at around 2,760 metres above sea level in the Kinnaur district, directly across from the Kinner Kailash range, a massif that includes a 79-foot natural Shivling considered sacred by both Hindus and Buddhists. On a clear morning, standing on the road above Kalpa and looking at those snow-covered peaks catching the first light of the day, you understand immediately why this entire range is considered divine.

But Kalpa is more than its views. It's an old, living Kinnauri village, the kind where wooden houses with intricately carved balconies stand next to apple orchards and prayer flags. The village of Roghi, reachable on a pleasant walk or short drive from Kalpa, sits even higher and offers an even more dramatic panorama. The people here are warm, quiet, and accustomed to the rhythm of mountain life in a genuinely refreshing way.

This 6-day package is built around making the most of Kalpa as a base, while also including Sarahan, Sangla, and Chitkul as supporting experiences. The temple at Sarahan, the valley at Sangla, and the remoteness of Chitkul all add texture to what Kalpa offers, and together they form one of the most complete Kinnaur experiences you can have.

The best time to visit Kalpa is May to June (when the orchards bloom) and September to October (when the apple harvest season turns the hills gold and red). Winters bring snow and a different, quieter kind of beauty, accessible to the adventurous.

Destinations like Jibhi and Spiti Valley receive exceptional praise for their clean environments, uncrowded natural beauty, and cultural experiences (e.g., Key Monastery, Hikkim's high-altitude post office)
